About Us

Supporting Sustainable Solutions for Climate Change

The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) is a cutting-edge national business incubator located in Ghana. The Centre, an institute of Ashesi University, was established in 2016 to support Ghanaian entrepreneurs and new ventures involved in developing profitable and locally relevant solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation by providing a supportive environment and tailored resources to empower our community to thrive and make a positive impact in the face of environmental challenges.

At GCIC, we are a driving force in the fight against climate change while simultaneously fueling Ghana’s economic advancement. Our team, alongside our passionate and courageous entrepreneurs, is dedicated to transitioning towards a prosperous, inclusive low-carbon economy.

We are committed to our entrepreneurs’ success by offering holistic business and leadership training programs, tailored portfolio management and support services, including financial grants. Additionally, we provide access to global industry and financial experts across five key sectors:

  • Climate-Smart Agriculture
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Solar Power
  • Water Management
  • Domestic Waste Management.

Furthermore, we actively engage with policymakers to advocate for climate-smart policies and statues.

GCIC empowers its entrepreneurs to embrace sustainability while fostering long-term implications of their activities in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.

We believe in driving inclusive interventions, particularly focusing on women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion, as crucial elements in building a robust economy and sustainable society in Ghana.

Our Vision

Our vision is a climate-resilient economy. We support entrepreneurial leaders who will bring this vision to fruition, and we advocate for government policies that enable sustainable economic development.

Our Mission

Our mission is to develop and support an exceptional set of transformational ventures and entrepreneurs who are pioneering adaptive and mitigating solutions for climate change issues in Ghana.

Our Values

Curiosity

Persistently seeking knowledge by understanding ourselves and our environment.

Innovation

GCIC was established to build and support local capacity among climate-smart SMEs to produce and manufacture locally adaptive innovative solutions to climate change mitigation and adaption. Innovation is at the core of what we do.

Leadership

GCIC is an institute of Ashesi University whose mission is to raise ethical entrepreneurial leaders in Africa, leaders with critical thinking skills, concern for others, and the courage needed to transform the continent. We deemed that it was even more important to not only support enterprises with business tools and services, but also to support their leadership to be lateral and critical thinkers that have the capacity to lead enterprises that are solutions-based and transformational.
