Yesther Metal Works is a business located in Kumasi that produces clean cooking stoves. The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) suggests that up to 1 gigaton of carbon dioxide equivalent is produced every year from burning wood fuels, equating to about 2% of global CO2 emissions. Firewood and charcoal consumption are a major contributor to the annual deforestation rate. Using clean cookstoves mitigates the emission issues and reduces the need to cut down more trees.

The rising demand for cars, heavy-duty vehicles, etc. throughout the years has led to an increased demand for lubricating oils. This results in the generation of large volumes of waste oils worldwide. Tahir Field Recycling seeks to recycle waste oils into useable engine oil for the automotive industry to reduce its generation by utilizing green technology and methods that meet industry standards. Currently, they are aiming to expand their production capacity to reach an output of 50,00 liters per day and recycle lithium batteries.

Guaras Enterprise, established in 2005, manufactures clean cooking stoves for senior high schools and individual households. Clean cooking stoves reduce burning biomass and help prevent deforestation. They currently have 16 employees and produce 500 cooking stoves per month.

Established in the year 2000, Yooyili Enterprise is located at Ashaiman and manufactures clean cookstoves for individual households. They produce on average 9,000 cook stoves per month and currently have 22 employees. Their clean cooking stoves reduce emissions efficiently burning biomass, which helps to prevent deforestation.

Ponaa Briquettes
Ponaa Briquettes started in 2015 as Clean Coal Company and manufactures charcoal briquettes to serve households and commercial customers within Tamale and its environs. It manufactures briquettes from rice husks using cassava starch as a binder. Ponaa Briquettes has 6 employees. By turning agricultural waste into usable fuels, i.e., briquettes, Ponaa reduces the need to cut down trees for firewood and charcoal which helps to reduce carbon emissions and allows for the standing trees to as carbon sinks.

Sterudan Group Limited
Sterudan manufactures energy-efficient cookstoves that reduce charcoal usage by 50%, thus lowering wood consumption for cooking. Producing 350-400 low-cost cookstoves per week, the company serves various Ministries in Ghana and the open market. Sterudan’s efforts contribute to carbon offsetting and forest conservation, vital for sustaining ecosystems. With plans to develop new stove models and products, Sterudan will benefit from GCIC support to scale up through the acquisition of factory production floor machinery and other resources.

Boomers International produces high quality, affordable bamboo products which have economic and social benefits to customers worldwide. Boomers has produced more than 2,500 frames and thousands of bamboo accessories, from bicycle baskets to children’s tricycles. Boomers cultivate and manage bamboo plantations which serve as reliable avenues for carbon capture. Bamboo bicycles as substitute to the traditional metallic bicycles reduces energy required to produce metals and by extension carbon emissions. Additionally, this alternative reduces the use of fossil-based transportation across the country.

Jacgk Trust Enterprise is an energy efficient business that manufactures cookstoves with the brand name “Obaapa.” The products of Jacgk Trust provide an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cookstoves. This protects the environment by reducing deforestation and preserving the forests. With a thermal efficiency of 36%, Obaapa cookstoves are among the high-power thermal efficiency cookstoves on the market. In addition to its high carbon savings potential, the cookstove offers high-cost savings for its users. Compared to traditional cookstoves, Obaapa cookstoves reduce fuel consumption by up to 50%. Jacgk Trust plans to produce its own liners, a critical component of their product.

ENG Solutions is an energy efficient business that produces cookstoves. Products created by ENG positively impact the environment by reducing air pollution and reducing deforestation. These results in high carbon sequestration. GCIC will support ENG Solutions to enhance and scale its production through technical support services, offer testing opportunities, acquire machines and business support services. Also, through the incubator, the business aims to minimize its negative impacts on the environment and become more sustainable.

Nasam designs and manufactures clean woodstove, gas stoves and charcoal powered cook stoves for urban and rural households in Ghana and the rest of Africa. Nasam product line consist of Obaahemaa special Woodstove, gas stoves, coalpots, grilled stoves and ovens.
